Democrat Governor Calls for Suspending Elections

File this in the random-things-politicians-say file. Speaking to a Cary Rotary Club today, N.C. Gov. Bev Perdue suggested suspending Congressional elections for two years so that Congress can focus on economic recovery and not the next election.

“I think we ought to suspend, perhaps, elections for Congress for two years and just tell them we won’t hold it against them, whatever decisions they make, to just let them help this country recover. I really hope that someone can agree with me on that,” Perdue said. “You want people who don’t worry about the next election.”

The comment — which came during a discussion of the economy — perked more than a few ears. It’s unclear whether Perdue, a Democrat, is serious — but her tone was level and she asked others to support her on the idea.

Perdue’s full statement:

“You have to have more ability from Congress, I think, to work together and to get over the partisan bickering and focus on fixing things. I think we ought to suspend, perhaps, elections for Congress for two years and just tell them we won’t hold it against them, whatever decisions they make, to just let them help this country recover. I really hope that someone can agree with me on that. The one good thing about Raleigh is that for so many years we worked across party lines. It’s a little bit more contentious now but it’s not impossible to try to do what’s right in this state. You want people who don’t worry about the next election.”

    What an imbarassment for a Governor! The whole country is thinking we in NC have not voiced our disgust with her comments, moreover, the NC media is lax in not condemning the Governor!

    Well…..N.C. Gov. Bev Perdue You have the misguided idea that suspending elections will solve the problems we are facing when in fact an new ELECTION of a new congress as soon as possible is the correct solution. While we're at it a new Gov. in North Carolina sounds like a great idea too.

    Obama and Democratic poilititions will do anything to win this 2012 election. I hope the states will ready national guard units at poles with live amunition to enforce legal voting and protection of voting facilities with full authority to use any means to repel voting irregularities with Highway patrol and Sheriffs dept backing up national guard troops. Obama allready has rallied opposition for poles with bullies to scare legal voters off and replace them with illegal voters. This is fact not fiction America. Stop Obama and Democratic polititions from evil takeover of United States Of America and people. Go to the poles in masses and vote evil lawless polititions out of office and redeem America. Report voting irregularities immediately to valid employees of voting and if no results, notify voting board and then state Governors office.

    congress hasnt done anything in the past 4 yrs to fix the economy, what makes perdue think 2 more years will help. I think we should fire all of congress and start over with people who want to help the economy and not themselves to bigger paychecks every year while the country is going down the toilet.

    to fed up: you know whites are to lazy to march all the do is bicker,and loud mouth and I'm white we never stand together but the blacks will they have on their marching shoes now with posters in the streets of Jacksonville getting votes for the job reform bill and it will now spread across the nation with their marching shoes obama told them to put on their marching shoes and go to work and that is what they are doing so what is wrong with this picture?If Reid and Obama don't soon get out of the Capital now these weasels are after Social Security and Medicare and Medicade.I got a letter or e-mail from my State Senator telling me all this and he said they gave FEMA over 7 billions and fema told them they did not need it wasteful that our money is being use for wasteful things and cut the things that are needed and passing bills that we do not need that is Reid and Obama the Senator said behind closed doors.so a good march to the White House sounds like what is needed the blacks get what they want when they march do they not well it's time for the whites to put on their walking shoes and march to the WH and stop these bills that are being passed without the American people knowledge so while we sit back the blacks takes over

    With more and more Americans becoming fed up with the performance of the president, as well as the democratic party, it bears to reason that Gov. Perdue already has seen the writing on the wall and the REAL reason she wants to suspend the upcoming Congressional elections is the fact that she knows the democrats are in for a house cleaning and she doesn't want to be sitting on one side of the aisle, all along – that is, IF SHE'S EVEN STILL IN WASHINGTON, D.C.!!

    If a conservative had suggested this, when they were about to lose part of Congress, the entire media would have put it ahead of everything else. But this same "entire media" is so biased that they'll bury this in the back of the newspaper – If it makes it inside, at all!

    Maybe calling the Governor's office in Raleigh and suggesting she resign from the office the party and the nation would be a good idea. I did. She is a native of Florida and Cuba is close to Florida maybe she could fly south and find her real home in Cuba with Fidel.

    She admitted that politicians put their political careers ahead of what's good for the country. They should be doing what's best, regardless of the pressures they receive! She's just another liberal politician, who has no respect for our constitution! I have a better idea! Why don't we have an early election, get it over with and let the newly elected politicians go to work! That way, the American people can decide which path they want the country to follow! We should never go beyond a politician's time in office; however, cutting some short does not create an impression of a government takeover!

    Gov Perdue—–YOU NEED TO GO. HOW WERE SO MANY AMERICAN HATERS PLACED IN ONE BASKET IN SUCH A TIMELY MANNER??? BAD IDEA.
