Senate Blocks New Obama Jobs Bill

For the second time in two weeks, Senate Republicans voted in unison to block “jobs” legislation, which the Obama administration and Senate Democratic leaders have made central to their agenda.

The majority of Democrats then blocked a second “jobs” measure offered by Republicans.

The first measure, a piece of President Obama’s larger jobs package, failed in a 50-50 vote after two Democrats and Independent Sen. Joe Lieberman (Conn.) joined Senate Republicans in voting against moving to the measure.

Democrats Ben Nelson (Neb.) and Mark Pryor (Ark.) also sided with Republicans.

BOYS AND GIRLS—–THEY STILL DON'T GET THE MESSAGE.
    CLEAN HOUSE IN 2012.
    NO MORE POLITICIANS, LAWYERS, ETC.
IF THEY DON'T HAVE ANY REAL BUSINESS EXPERIENCE THEY HAVE NO BUSINESS TRYING TO RUN THE STRONGEST MOST LUCRATIVE COUNTRY EVER ON THE FACE OF THE EARTH

Could you possibly post anything without shouting? Even those who agree with your message are sick of all the people on this website who cannot make a point in normal, lover case "conversation". CAPS should used sparingly to make a point or for emphasis.

We are not "boys and girls"……..I shall have my 75th birthday in November and if your "name" is any indication, you are no spring chicken either. Please treat your fellow posters with more respect.

      • dntmkmecomoverther

ALL CAPS was your main concern? Did you miss the big, white, fat, tryannical elephant in the room standing on our toes? Good grief! Get over yourself and grab onto something substantial!

        • bruce brinkmann

And with this country in such desperate need of a true leader, we have candidates arguing about who cut their GRASS! I really fear for America.

          • Pegi

Isn't that the truth? I have a lawn service and I don't know if all the workers are legal. Perry needs to get with the real picture and quit the trivial nonsense if he wants to be considered a viable candidate in my book.

            This is why I like CAIN,he isn't a politician,I'm liking a CAIN-GINGRICH package more,and more everyday !!

      • rulken

Is that your only concern? Caps? there is substance in the message, read it or not, but lets be more about the message than it's format,,,good grief!

      • evermyrtle

I wasn't thinking about the tabs. What was foremost on my mind was the job done by the republicans. It is past time for them to wake up and do something positive. This shows some hope that our Senate will start making some decisions that apply to Christians in their struggle to keep GOD'S laws on board, that some of the liberals will will be ousted.

        • Apache6

          And,evermyrtle,we'll replace REPUBLI-CAN'TS,with REPUBLI-CANS (conservatives) !!!

from years of cranking out technical documentation, I too could get really A.R. (*nal retentive)! Spleing, graymar, sentenck structure, style, format ect…
I DO agree – the content of thoughts expressed is MORE important than all of these. Having said that,

Let us not forget the Democrats that are opposed to this flim-flam as it is not a "jobs bill," but a spending bill that states cannot afford to accept as it sentences them to an obligation for ten years or perpetuity for accepting funding for one! No cigar.

    • Geral Sills

Mr. Vance, I read an article from the Washington Post, a liberal rag, that the Jobs Bill is a women's work bill, to be applied only to working professional women who wish to step aside momentarily to have children, or to care for children. This Bill is not applied to men, or the regular women on the street. I apologize for not having the web address for the article, but perhaps you know how to access the article. If the Washington Post beats down the Bill, you can bet it is really a bad idea to pass such Communist legislation.

      • http://adrianvance.blogspot.com adrianvance

Sorry you don't have the link as I have serious doubt of that story. Crazy as this Administration is I do not think that could be the case. As I interpret the current bill, such as I can read of it, it is more of the same shoring up of state funds that have been depleted by irresponsible Governors and will solve their problems for one year; just long enough for them to get out under cover.

  • SEAN MURRY

No more lib bs they dont have any business experice.

    • Drew Page

The only experience liberals in government have is spending other people's money irresponsibly.

  • William Zirkle

The "boys and girls" phrase should refer to those in Washington District of Criminals. There is a need for adult supervision on Capitol Hill. Republicans and Democrats alike are part of our problem. We need patriotic people voted in for both houses as while as residents the White House. There is little difference between the two major parties. They are a Mutt and Jeff style politicians. These folks need to have some serious cuts in pay and their retirement stripped from them if they do not perform in the interest of this country. They, like the military, should not receive a pension unless they do 20 years on Capitol Hill.

    • rulken

The Democrats are a cynical group of socialist, and communist in democrat's clothing! I will not not vote for any democrat ever again. ! So if your a true democrat that want's to serve our nation, serve it as a independent, or republican. I will vote against every democrat on the ticket in 2012!!

    • John

Funny , that you have no replies , being your post is one of the best , most intelligent ones , on the thread . 20 years in a variety on posts , sounds right to me ! 4 years and your covered for life , and as President , you have your business rent taken care of for life … How ridiculous !

  • deerhunter1

ALL THIS BILL WILL HELP IS THE BLOOD SUCKING UNIONS, BOZOS BUDDIES. BLOCK, BLOCK, BLOCK THIS BILL.THIS BILL PUTS US IN DEEPER DEBT. STOP THIS SO CALL BILL .AND KEEP IT STOP. WE THE PEOPLE. WE THE PEOPLE.

  • noob

Looks like election time is coming soon. Fool me once.

    • evermyrtle

I think we need to hope and pray that an election is coming. Of course this small victory is encouraging but we still have a long way to go, considering the way things are shaping up.

  • Rockcut

Agan the GOP vortes aganist Americans .,….Teachers, firefighters………policemen…..I am sick of the do nothing GOP Congressmen and Senators….they would take their hate of Obama to the level that hurts all Americans…..This to me is unacceptable………………….

I am sure the majority of nonthinking people who read this will never see or understand that I am speaking the TRUTH

    • rulken

Your only speaking nonsense not the truth. Your so stupid you don't see that "we the People" are doing just the opposite of what your saying. Yeah,, we hate Obama, he's a socialist, and a communist!

    • Willis McLaughlin

Stop whining; teachers, firefighters and policemen make a far better living wage than the average American worker, and their unions are strangling America like an anaconda around our neck. That is the truth.

    • AZ Tom

Vortes huh? You are as stupid as the rest of the democrats

    • howe

Rocknuts, you are too ignorant to get engaged and find out what the real truth is. You are probably an uneducated idiot who rather be part of the party of foodstamps then the party of responsibility and jobs, like working for a living. First of all our country is broke, that means no dinero and we cannot afford to spend money for anything that is not an emergency. We can't even fund FEMA at a cost of 6 billion dollars for help for the people who are seriously hurting from the floods, earthquake and tornado disasters that have ocurred in the last few months. The teacher and police jobs are temporary at best because the proposed jobs bill requires the states to pay 35 to 45 billion dollars for a second year if they take the 35 to 45 billion dollar funding for the first year and there are only three states that can afford to pay for that 2nd year. This Obama jobs bill is a gimmick to create unfavorable publicity for the Republicans and increasing public sector jobs to increase the democratic voting bloc. Its all about Obama keeping his job its not about educating our kids or protecting the safety of the public..

    • Drew Page

The GOP isn't voting against all Americans. The GOP is voting for Americans who are sick and tired of being screwed by liberals in government that have spent this country into near bankruptcy in an attempt to buy votes for their party. They are voting against those in government who thought it was a great idea to push banks to give mortgage loans to those who had little to no chance of repaying such loans. They are voting against those who controlled Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and had these organizations buy up these toxic, substandard mortgage loans from the banks who issued them. They are voting against those who brought us a Finance Reform bill that excluded Freddie and Fannie from the same restrictions and regulations that apply to other banks. The GOP are voting against those who cannot stimulate business growth or restore employment. In other words, the GOP are voting against those currently controlling the Senate and White House and that is certainly not all Americans.

    • Gringo Infidel

You just don't get it, do you. You probably never will.

I suppose we will always have those who have been conditioned to rely on someone to take care of them. It is the unions that add unnecessary costs to products and stifle growth.

  • us citizen

Rockcut, if you remember the last stimuls was to go to the states for teachers, firefighters and police. The jobes bill by obummer was nothing more of the same old same BS.

    • evermyrtle

Was to go, are the key words, here.

  • richard durbin

i personally hope I cancel out your vote next general election ROCKCUT .

    • Pegi

      Me too!

  • Pegi

Glad it was defeated inspite of the reason. Don't expect democrats to change their stripes. This isn't a jobs bill…it's another tax bill.

  • Larry Dean

Since there is no audio in this post the remark about shouting is rather inane. I appreciate all caps as it is much eqsier to read.

  • Jonathan Gartner

AH the laundy bill of 2011 all it would do is give the Unions (teachers union alone 35 million) more money to give Obama. Just imagine if 2010 had not turned out right and the bigger mass of defection we would have to dig ourselves out of

    • Willis McLaughlin

Please read your comment before you post it. Language was meant for communication purposes, not simply to rant. Your last sentence was garbled and meaningless.

  • jim brewer

rockcut only see's one side? reads only the parts he wants. hears only what he wants to hear. It only raises taxes because this obummer idiot and his democraps cronies do not know how to create anything but misery and taxes.this jobs bill is only for union jobs like public service employees union, seiu, teamsters.if you don't think so, just look at the white house visitors and you'll see Richard Trumpka, the head of the afl-cio union, was there 4 times a week for 3 years. WHY? here's how it works rockcut . i'm a democrat, running for office, your union contributes thousands to my campaine, i get elected, i steer millions to your union (tax money, not mine) case closed. do you see any jobs in there?

  • nifongnation

My dog defecates at dog beach and we are required to pick up after them, and every time I do I realize that that little pile is worth more than Obama or his heretics..

OBAMAS A COMPLETE FAILURE – AND FINALLY EVERY BODYS WAKING UP TO THAT FACT. OUST OBAMA.

  • teresa

What people dont realize is that the Republicans are on to obummer and his agenda. I would rather have gridlock then have obama continue to spend us into complete bankrupcy. You may not like the republicans, but they are beating obama at his own game, and now the dems are starting to stop obama too. wake up folks.

  • cheryl jessup

This is just another Stimulus or slush fund for Obama and the unions. Have you noticed how much that we don't have he is lending to companies for this stupid Green Movement. The lastest is 529 million to Finland. With all the people we have out of work why is he handing to a forgein country and not America. He's bent on destroying country and our economy and anyone that can't see this is stupid.

  • AMERICAN SEABEE

WE SHOULD BUILD A FENCE AROUND DC, COMPLETE WITH GUARD TOWERS AND MACHINE GUNS. THIS WOULD PROBABLY BE LESS EXPENSIVE THAN PROSECUTING THAT 545, NOT JUST THE 535.

    NECESSITY, THE MOTHER OF INVENTION.

  • LiNDA

Let us hope that they can hold on til elections…………..Let us hope that our senators and representatives……know who voted for them and who won't vote for them in the future if they continue to help Obamination ruin this country.
I am grateful that they didn't pass it.

  • Jerry

Why blame the Republicans when his own dims won't help pass the bill! Because it will be the sameole! same ole! Can't wait for the Republicans to capture all needed houses and the WH!

  • http://yahoo.com Thomas Martin

Good for those that blocked this POS as it's just more wasted money for obama's cronies.

  • Cris Petersen

I bet you will NEVER hear from the Lamestreet media that 100% of the democrats blocked the Republican jobs bill!

  • howe

Obama knows that the House of Representatives will not allow him to spend money that we don't have without a cut to an existing program to offset the spending. Obama needs a campaign scapegoat (thats the Jobs Bill) even members of his own party are voting against it in the Senate. This situation is reaching the boiling point because we have a President who is creating a mountain of devisiveness and absolutely killing the free market system. I spent 29 years in the military and I have worked 21 years in the private sector in spite of disabilities I received while in the military, but I layed it on the line many times for what I believe is the greatest country in the world. If you do a little research you will find that there are 70 registered socialist democrats in the House of Representatives who are led by minority leader Pelosi. I hope you will vote these crooks out in 2012.

  • Drew Page

When Obama wanted to increase the debt ceiling, his first respone to GOP criticism was to say he couldn't guatrantee Social Security checks would go out, or that Medicare payments would be made, or that those in the armed services would get their paychecks. Notice that he refrained from saying he couldn't guarantee that he, or members of both Houses of Congress, or government bureaucrats would get their paychecks. You will notice that he refrained from saying that he couldn't guarantee that retired government bureaucrats and retired members of Congress might not get their pension checks or health care benefits. You may have noticed that he didn't say that all foreign aid might have to be suspended. He didn't even hint at cutting Pentagon expenditures. No, the first thing Obama did was grab right for the crotch and threaten Social Security, Medicare and Armed Forces paychecks.
