Senate Republicans Block Another Piece of Obama Jobs Bill

Republican-led opposition in the Senate blocked the highway infrastructure flank of President Obama’s jobs package from advancing Thursday, as the GOP continues its united front against Democratic efforts to raise taxes on millionaires to pay for programs to create jobs.

The 51-49 vote, with two Democrats joining all Republicans in opposition, comes as House Speaker John A. Boehner (R-Ohio) rolled out a new GOP-led jobs initiative Thursday.

Boehner proposes taking the proceeds from expanded domestic energy production, including oil drilling, and putting it toward highway infrastructure needs. “This represents a better way,” Boehner told reporters.

The GOP effort comes as Republicans and Democrats are vying for the public’s approval on the jobs front — a top issue for voters.

    What part of no new taxes do these idiots in the Democrat party not understand. It is time to cut actual spending, flatline increases and start devolving the non-constitutional parts of this government.       Why are we being subjected to Obama giving speaches and lying, Without some Republican response immedately afterward. It is his own Party that rejected his job bill im the Congress. And the Republican controled House has submitted 19 Job bill to Congress and Whorehouse Harry Reid has refused to even let them come to a vote. Its wat past the time that Obama is called to his face for his constant lying.

    Who will be first to attempt to tar and feather the two Democrats who were brave enough to join the "right" on this issue? Too bad there aren't more Dems with any guts…………lots of them are nervous about being connected with this "jobs bill". They are well aware how angry the electorate is with all the spending going on. No more bills for big unions with taxes attached. STOP THE SPENDING NOW!!

    Where are the 18 bills passed by the House? Sitting at the door of the Senate where the DemoNrat's pit bull is allowing no admittance!

    We wouldn't be in this position if Oboner had been worrying more about the economy than wasting money on his vacations, his million dollar buses, bail outs, etc. The strain on our economy has been mostly the fault of the lazy arses that have been milking the Government programs that shouldn't even been allowed to participate.

    The Illegal immigrants using "OUR" SS, free healthcare, free housing, free food stamps, free education, all while working under the table for employees that want cheap labor. The immigrants need to be rounded up and sent back home. The lazy asses on Unemployment should have been able to find a job in 2 years, but why should they since Oboner has extended the length of time they can collect it. If they were made to work in theparks, help Habitat for Humanity, clean up the neighborhoods, our roads and if they don't don't keep paying them to sit on their lazy asses.

      I so agree with you on every point. Illegals are causing most of our problems. Getting all the free stuff they are now cutting Americans off. I personally know a disabled man on oxygen they cut off. If We The People don't get serious about what is being taught in our schools we can end up voting till the cows come home and it won't matter at all. I read where they are even going to change the rules on what is taught in school. Especially home schooled kids. We all better be aware. We should really be irate about the judge who stopped drug testing in Florida for people who want free stuff. If your employer wants to test you he can. Pelousy even said the free stuff is jobs. So why not drug test?

    Families with a two parent household should never be able to collect Public assistance. This program does nothing but encourage the to sit at home and collect as much as they can. Make one of them find a job or train them for one year and when that is done, give them 6 months to find a job, then end the assistance.

    Stop the Welfare Fraud. I have too many times seen people driving brand new and expensive vehicles, yet they pay for groceries with a State Debit Card and get free medical, education, housing. These leeches need to be taken off our Welfare System and prosecuted to the extent of the law and pay back what they have stolen from our programs.

      Blame our welfare system. They made it impossible to train & discipline our kids. We can't make them get an eduation. Therefore, they can't (won't) work and expect us that do work to feed, clothe, house, and medicate them as they keep producing kids. Make them work even if it is mowing the roads or babysitting so others can work. I understand seniors ( I am one) who can't find work, but a 20 yr old? Please. Work, if able, or forget your freebies.

    Anybody receiving assistance, on welfare, Unemployment,free education, free medical should "HAVE TO PASS A DRUG TEST" no exceptions. This is not a violation of their rights, it's a protection of our rights. Fail and they are taken off assistance and banned for 5 years from ever receiving it again.

    Support our immigration Laws. Stop the problem before they get into our country and if they do get into our country, let the State do what they can to help find them and deport them back to their own country. This will drastically reduce the Crime Rate, lessen the strain on our Education Programs, Welfare Programs, all the Freebies the collect.

      Not only should they have to pass a drug test to receive govt’t assistance, but mandate that they serve a certain amount of community service for what they receive.  This will help local communities as well as making these people contribute.

    Do not give tax breaks to the rich and big companies. A flat tax rate of 9% would make sure that everybody pays their fair share of taxes.

    Put a limit on the amount of Campaign Contnributions an individual or company can contribute to a Candidate. So much money is donated to the parties and then they expect something in return if their candidate is elected.

    Enough of giving illegals what they think they deserve. If they are illegal, they are definitely not allowed to file lawsuits agaist us to get something they want. That is illegal and should not be allowed. No more singing their national anthem, reciting their pledge of allegiance. No more press 1 for Spanish, 2 for English. English is the language of this country, now they want to make Spanish the official language. How much more are we goingto allow these immigrants to tell us how to run our country?

    Well the demoncrats refused and locked the doors on the Republican when we were a minority obviously everyone has forgotten all about that. Harry Reid has blocked all Obama's bills not the Republicans we just will not pass them. And for those who say we have a low approval rating in congress those survey's where for the whole congress not individuals therefore highly misleading

    Every time we go to the gas pumps to get gas, there is a tax that is taken out for our Nations roads and highways. If obama wants to put people to work on these highways, why does he need new money for that project when that money was supposed to be there in the first place? If there is no money in that highway fund, where did it go? We need to have an "outside of government" oversight committee that We The People put in place to insure that our hard earned tax dollar is not foolishly spent on pet projects by our untrusted elected representatives from both party's.
