Obama Orders Three Initiatives to Help Veterans Find Jobs

President Barack Obama issued three executive orders aimed at helping veterans find jobs and pressed Congress to pass tax credits for businesses that hire former members of the military.

Four days before the Veterans Day U.S. holiday, Obama said military members returning home from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have unique and valuable skills, yet still are having a difficult time finding jobs.

Veterans have the kind of experience “that every American business should be competing to attract,” Obama said today at the White House Rose Garden. “These are the kinds of Americans that every company should want to hire.”

Today’s event and the executive orders are part of the president’s campaign to put pressure on Republican lawmakers who have blocked his jobs initiative and demonstrate action on trimming the nation’s 9 percent unemployment rate.

    The actual national unemployment rate is 16.2% if you real "Chart A-15, Column U-6" at the Department of Labor. If Mr. Obama thinks he can help ex-military get jobs with the stroke of a pen he is even dumber than any of us ever thought. This is sadly ridiculous, but it may bring the focus to veterans in a good way.

      I agree that it much higher than 9.1 but I would go 12-13% I believe it will take another 7 months to get to 15% right before the election cycle really kicks in

    It's not Obama's job nor constitutional prerogative to help veterans find a job. I have a child in the military, yet would
    not want this. What an intrusion for the state to even think they should find us jobs! Read more good commentary like

      When did he start defending veterans, this is a new angle. I have one idea in assisting people without job. Pay all politicians no more than $100,000 above their legitimate political expenses. This is far more money that the average wage earner is paid. What they are being payed above that bank it to feed the jobless

    Here's one Obama I go to the Post Office and everyone there is either Black or Asian I go to the Va Hopsital and all the clerk Postions and maintenance a Jantioral postions are held by Blacks the Last time I looked Veterans are 60%White 25% Hispanic and 14% Black and 1% asian thats an estimate but you can looked at the deaths on Body count Afgan and Iraq wars and thats how I figured it out

    Is this the same idiot that said our military was stingy and selfish and that they should pay for their own health/medical care because they were volunteers? Is this the same coward that said he thought about joining the military but thought he would better serve our country by being a community organizer?? And is this the same muslim terrorist sympathizer and socialist that wants to cut military benefits and the defense budget in order to support illegals and "give-away" programs???     The first thing that any President should do is require that ALL federal contractors list their job openings with their local state employment offices as required by law. Secondly, require that these offices enforce this listing requirement. (The federal contractor listing requirement is intended to help veterans secure jobs.)

    I worked in a program when I first went to work for NC Employment Security commission over 20 years ago where we did this in the construction field. Our veteran hire rate was very high. The folks in Raleigh resisted this program and it was eventually closed after about 5 years. They wanted the Federal Contractor listing requirement to remain voluntary so you can imagine how many federal contractors complied, to the shagrin of veterans.

    Just how many unions are going to open their arms to incoming veterans ?
    So right off the bat, all of OUR infastructure jobs are off limits to many.
    If you really want to create jobs open all tax payer jobs to non union contractors.
    Supply and demand will set the scale from the cities to federal level.
    Problem is, most non union contractors cant send the millions to your campaign fund.

Isn't Obama the coward that said he thought about being in the military but felt he could do more for America as a community planner?? And isn't it the Muslim terrorist supporter and socialist, Obama, that wants to reduce military benefits, cut defense spending and open our borders in order to support entitlement programs and wealth redistribution??? Open your eyes America!!!!

    I don't trust a single thing Oboner does.

    He's also talking about federal funding to city, county and state police and security firms if they hire ex military, but they would be on the federal payroll.

    I was wondering how Oboner was going to fund his domestic police force.

    Oath Keepers need to pay attention to this scheme.
