Mitt Romney as the Nominee: Conservatism Dies and Barack Obama Wins

Mit Romney will not go on Special Report with Brett Baier to answer the tough questions as the other candidates have done. No worries. Conservatives will bitch and moan for a few days and Romney will claim it was a scheduling issue, he’d always meant to go on, and he will go on.

Should Mitt Romney win the Presidency, conservatives will find this pattern play out repeatedly. Romney will head in a direction conservatives do not like and they will bitch and moan repeatedly and maybe, just maybe, he’ll part his hair in their direction.

We’ve seen this play out over and over. Jon Huntsman comes up with the best economic plan of all the candidates, Herman Cain follows up with 999, Perry comes out with a flat tax, and Romney refuses to do anything. Until he does something.

Mitt Romney is not the George W. Bush of 2012 — he is the Harriet Miers of 2012, only conservative because a few conservative grand pooh-bahs tell us Mitt Romney is conservative and for no other reason.

He is a rino i wont vote for him.

    • Sam

GOOD! Anyone as stupid as you should vote for Obama, or just stay home, like you probably always do anyway.

  • 1776

Sheesh. Anybody who isn’t to the extreme right is a rino to some of you. The fact is the vast majority of Americans are only slightly right of center. That would include Romney. He is not my 1st choice. I like Paul or Cain over him. But if he gets the nomination he is a far cry better than Obama. And you bigots that won’t vote for him just because he’s a Mormon are ignorant at best. I will vote for whoever is on the ticket against Obama. And I suspect that even Romney will beat him handily taking the independents who are more like minded with him and the Conservatives who will not stand by and watch a socialist spend another 4 years in office. It will not be the end of conservatism as this author seems to believe!

Newt Gingrich Is the only qualified and really knowledgeable candidate when asked intelligent questions. I am more disappointed every time I hear Romney’s performance. He gets ugly and sounds like a petulant child. So, Romney, Perry and Cain I’d on shaky ground with all the accusations. Newt us the only one who may be left standing.

  • john

Romney is not the answer he is the problem we saw what happened when we choose a moderate to run … McCain was a joke and so will Romney if he is chosen
the only one with a chance to beat Obama the socialist is Newt with his knowledge of the inner working of congress and his solution for the economics mess we are in… Newt need to be more agressive which he is starting to show balls

I believe that Mitt Romney is the only candidate running for the Republican nomination who can and will defeat Obama. Sure, he is to "milqtoast" for most hard-line Republicans, but that is the best way to attract the independent vote. Let's unite behind Romney and get on with retiring Obama, so that he can return to South-side Chicago and resume his "community organizing."
There is definitely a spot in the Romney Administration for Newt Gingrich–the idea man.

My God! Not Romney!!! GINGRICH! GINGRICH!! GINGRICH!!! ALL THE WAY!!! He's the only one I've heard speak that makes total sense. Every other one that I've liked has opened his mouth and blew it for me!

MUST I, ONCE AGAIN, GO TO THE POLLS AND VOTE HOLDING MY NOSE?!!!!!

  • buck

    AMEN !!!

  • brandonmackinder

if mitt romny gets elected, we might as well keep obama and call it quits. both of them are socialists, only obama is worse. if we went with romny it would be like saying "we dont like the devil, but we love his prophet."

  • Yeshua Friend

The Democrats would love to see a socialist liberal like Mitt Romney get the nomination, that would guarantee there programs to stay right on schedule for at least another four years. If you want to know how a Mormon would rule in the White House, Harry Reed of Nevada is your perfect L.D.S. example. Actually the Mormon Church in Salt Lake City dictates the policy's there members holding Office will follow, in order to remain a member in good standing; and to be eligible to receive the greater part of there campaign funding. Shalom!

Well, quit vilifying the man and go vote for Obama. Complaining about everyone except those that don't have a prayer of winning is the true road to defeat. Cain is not qualified to be president, but I will vote for him. or Gingrich, or Rpmney. How could any of you belly achers be against any republican? Of course, you may not like some of them, but this ain't a beauty contest! We are in deep trouble and we all need to pull rtogether to rid ourselves of all these socialists in government, or secum to life of slavery to the welfare state.

  • Sam

If all you can do is support people who don't have a prayer of winning, why don't you just vote for Obama. I don't think Cain is qualified to be president, but I will vote for him if he should be the nominee, or Gingrich, or Romney. This country is in deep trouble and the coming election is not a beauty contest. We need to all pull together against this tide of socialism that is washing away our freedoms and way of life every day. The only tool we have is the ballot box. Register and VOTE against Obama and all the other socialists in the government.

Please educate some of us. What is this “CFR” you keep referring to? In all my research, I have never run across it.

    Cain/Gingrich 2012!

  • Bill

Herman Cain is not qualified to be president, but I will vote for him, if he is the nominee, or Gingrich, or Romney. The coming election is not a beauty contest. It is a struggle to retain our freedoms and way of life. Quit bickering and get behind someone who can win.
