Perry blasts Obama for not hosting parade for returning US troops

GOP presidential candidate Rick Perry criticized President Obama on Wednesday for not arranging a parade to welcome U.S. soldiers returning from Iraq.

The Texas governor, who has struggled since entering the GOP primary, accused Obama of not properly thanking the military.

“It really disturbs me that nearly after nine years of war in Iraq that this president wouldn’t welcome home our many heroes with a simple parade in their honor,” Perry said at a campaign stop in Iowa.

“Maybe it’s because this war is unpopular with the Democrats. I don’t know. But Mr. President, our soldiers come first. And it comes before party politics. We need to welcome our soldiers home. Give them that parade. Give them that pat on the back. Tell them thank you for the freedom that we have.”

Isn't it interesting how democrats excoriate the military but when it suits them they use them at the drop of the hat as if they are just mind numb robots sent on kill missions. Bush truly cared about the men and women of our military and every death cut him deeply, if you don't think so ask yourself why the military loved Bush so much. I do not think the feeling is mutual with our current president

    Perry and the Toll roads:
Transportation has become Kay Bailey Hutchison’s go-to issue as she attempts to take down Gov. Rick Perry in the March 2 Republican primary.

Unlike other policy areas, which tend to break down along clear partisan lines, transportation policy historically has been harder to pigeonhole. But in his nine years as governor, Perry has compiled a clear-cut record of sweeping and often controversial change in that area.

Perry and the late Ric Williamson, his point man on the Texas Transportation Commission from 2002 until Williamson’s death in 2007, shifted state transportation funding from a gas-tax-based, pay-as-you-go system to a market-based approach swamped with toll roads.

They pushed through a law allowing free roads to be “converted” to toll roads, in theory eliciting gushers of transportation money. They pushed to have private companies, most prominently one from Spain, front the money for toll roads on the state highway system and then operate and profit from them for 50 years. And Perry proposed (and got statutes written to allow) the creation of 4,000 miles of tollways, railways and utility corridors across the state, branding it the Trans-Texas Corridor. They sneered at the prospect of raising the state’s long-frozen gas tax, and the Legislature took the hint.

There sure is a lot of nonsense posted here. There was on one senable post that pointed out it is not the President's job to put together a parade that is the responsibility of the city that wants to host the parade like New York etc. But once again this web site provides the raw meat that you right wing haters gobble up……You people are so out of reality with what you post. Anyone paying attention to how Perry has expressed himself while running for president could ever think he is capable of running the country needs a head doctor. So in Perry's desperation he throws out comments like this that are 100% meaningless.

Rockcut you are right! It's not Obama's job to host a parade!
That has got to be the dumbest comment today. President Obama ended a war that wasn't needed and was lied about. Tell us how many WMDs did Bush find? Do you think we won anything more than a few more graves on Memorial Day or are you really that d@mn stupid. But what do you expect. They are racist, bigoted scumbags!

Never mind a parade what about taking care of our Vets when they come home insteading of cutting their pay and or medical services.
Mr. & Mrs. OB are nothing less than two faced liares. they say one thing then turn around and screw you, they use the military when it serves them for a political shoot then throw them to the curb.

Oh, he couldn't possibly do that for our troops. He had to take a vacation from his vacation; was much too busy planning his umpteenth trip to Hawaii.
