In Iowa, Young Voters Unenthusiastic About Obama

Young voters came out in huge numbers to elect President Obama in 2008. This year, with no primary contest, Democrats are using their caucuses to test how much support they have in Iowa. But many young liberals have grown disenchanted with the president, and some have thrown their support behind Republican Ron Paul.

On Monday, 10 Obama for America volunteers made calls to registered Democrats from a Panera Bread turned phone bank just outside of Des Moines. The volunteers reminded Democrats when and where to show up to caucus.

John Kraus, the campaign’s Iowa communications director, says the caucuses are a chance to show that Obama’s network from 2008 hasn’t disappeared.

“Whether it’s the Iraq War or ending ‘don’t ask, don’t tell,’ [or] making college more affordable, many of the things that he talked about in 2008 that inspired a lot of young people to get involved are issues that he’s delivered on,” Kraus says.

I can't blame young people for not wanting to vote for Obama in 2012. They'll bear the brunt of his horrific policies. College more affordable? The government can't pay for everything and it will crash one day

  • RENEGADE

WELL DUHHHHH!!!! MOST OF THE OLDER VOTERS DON'T WANT 4 MORE YEARS OF THIS POS EITHER!!!!!

Amazing how many college kids approach life and politics on a party binge kind of thing. Stuff yourself with whatever is popular at the moment (0′bama) until you puke (wake up to facts) and swear ‘never do that again’. Until the next new fad comes along.

Click the name, see the website, prepare now.

These young kids will get stuck paying for all Obama's fancy programs. They see the writing on the wall. I don't blame them for latching on to Ron Paul — the only one who will turn the system upside down. Unfortunately, Paul doesn't resonate with me. Too old, and where are HIS medical records? He's been in the House for 30 years and hasn't seem to have made a dent in anything.

I heard today that Ron Paul only had one bill that he proposed that became a law. Is that right? Does anybody know for sure?

    • sandra

He proposed may bills, but only one was voted on, and passed. All of the bills he wrote were good ones, but the two party system in this country has became a one party system. We thought we elected Tea Part Candidates in 2010, just to watch them cave in to the Democrats. If Ron Paul isn't elected, I am afraid we have lost our country, because I don't see Romney, Perry, or Gingrech, doing anything different than what is being done now.

Sandra, go back to bed and never get up, your dead from the neck up already.

        • Riverdweller

Sandra is right and I agree with most of her post.
You don't seem able to refute her so you resort to the liberal policy of a personal attack.

  • jr

These young people there have had a good upbringing by some down to earth, good people.

My children were brought up in a good home with a loving family, they were not fools, and they sure did not vote for that idiot obama, only idiots did.

  • Patrick Henry

Hey O-blamer, young people need jobs, not debt, gay rights, and your attempt to buy their votes with more college money!

  • mitchell

Obama will buy votes from anyone,And anyone running fir Pres, is gonna be better than Obama, I'll take any one of them.

Divide and conquer, that is the democratic agenda for 2012. Seperate the rich from the poor, ( eliminating the middle class) Seperate Blacks against Whites (while keeping slavery alive via entitlements) Turn our back on our allies, while praising our enemies ( Taliban is not our enemy per Joe Biden) "The TEA Party are astro turf and racist, but the thugs, OWS are from the grass roots." Separate the old from the young. The old are being depicted as being thrown over the cliff by the Republicans, while the young now will stay on their parents health insurance until they are 25, ( assuming their parents haven't lost their job) Now the latest is, Barack doesn't need Congress, he will just have pen in hand and the rest of the time he will be campaigning. Well lets show Barack and the Democratic Socialist Party we can play the same game. Divide and Conquer by voting all of the Democratic bums, liars, crooks, socialist communist officials out of office with a complete slate of conservative republicans who love and respect our country and the constitution,

It's about time the young folks woke up and realized he's all talk. I guess they believed his lies and had to see for themselves.

  • SEAN MURRY

we seniors do not want four more years of obummer.

  • jb80538

That's all thanks to the liberal indoctrination our kids get in the school system these days.

I'm glad to see the young and old going negative on obama, should have done it in 2008 while America was working.
