Police shoot and kill 8th grader at Texas school

Police in Brownsville, Texas, today shot and killed an 8th-grade student who was brandishing a gun at a middle school, the Brownsville Herald reports.

A school administrator apparently noticed the student carrying the gun and called police, Brownsville police Detective J.J. Trevino said, according to the Associated Press. He said investigators hadn’t determined whether the student fired any shots. He said he had no information on why the student had the gun on him.

“It’s still under investigation, as far as how he came about to bringing the weapon or if he encountered anybody or anything else,” Trevino said.

    I would have sent a K-9 to knock the kid down and chew him up a little. If that didn't work … then shoot him. :) )))) Children should be taught not to brandish a gun in front of armed police. ;) )))

    Did the cops shoot to kill to stay out of court? If the kid lived would that mean a lifetime of lawsuits and payments? Is that why cops shoot a child to kill instead of maim? No matter how you look at it this story is so screwed up. 8th grader flashing a gun at school… cops shooting to kill kid… courts so twisted the criminals end up getting away with murder and then making thousands or even millions off the victims… Yep… screwed

    I don't see where anyone asked the question of where did he get the gun and why would he bring it to school? There has to be a purpose or reason behind his actions. Where were the parents? Oh, I know, they hadn't taken the time to teach this kid how NOT to react to things that he disagrees with and decides to 'get even' with whomever for his real or imagined hurts and/or disappointments. Kids down days are basically on their own. They have a single parent home, about 76% of them, and the mom is busy doing her own drugs, alcohol, etc. instead of teaching a kid what not to do. Their favorite pasttime is on their back – both the females and the males! There is no responsibility anymore for one's actions – it is self gratifiction first! Hey,it's cheaper to put illigitimate kids out by the dozen then to go to work everyday – let the state take care of them because I had fun begating them – they have the morals of an alley cat and this kid is a result of that mental attiude and sickness that runs rampant in our world today.

    Some of you that are downgrading the pellet gun this kid had doesn't know his/her butt from third base. This 'pellet' gun can lill a small animal easily. This pellet gun can take out someone's eyes and cause other permanent damage. This pellet gun in the hands of a nim-com-poop jerk kid is as dangerous as if he had a Glock Model 30 – 45 cal. weapon. In MANY states when a 'kid' has committed an adult crime then that 'kid' can be judged as an adult! This kid was so judged by his actions – he has no one to blame but himself, his parent(s), and the society we live in today that doesn't care a twit about anything except themselves! Believe it!
