Abandoned Baby Found in Occupy DC Tent

A man is facing child cruelty charges after his 13-month-old daughter was found alone in a tent in the Occupy DC camp at McPherson Square.

Occupy members told authorities that a baby was alone in a tent at about 10 a.m. Wednesday, said Sgt. David Schlosser, a U.S. Park Police spokesman. Officers found the girl alone in the tent with no adults around. The baby had been alone for at least half an hour, Schlosser said.

A man returned to the park while police were investigating and said he was the baby’s father, Schlosser said. The man was charged with attempted second-degree cruelty to children. Schlosser would not release the man’s name, saying doing so could identify the child.

    Word on the street is that this young lady was a Ron Paul supporter and a "strict Constitutionalist" who was only seeking "liberty" from her father's costly #Occupy "war"! She was found wandering the encampment muttering "Liberty, Constitution. Liberty, Constitution. I win the debate!" </sarc>

    Lock the guy up and throw away the key.

      He should be locked up, subject to spend time in jail, pay a stiff fine and not allowed to ever have a child in his care, again. He put this child's live in great jeopardy which is inexcusable!!!!

      LOL That of course is a reading of the Constitution with out the morals and ethics given us also by the founding fathers. Remember the French Revolution Paul would have been in the led on that one Law with no Justice and it goes on from there

I'm 81 and know that you don't leave babies or young children alone to fend for themselves, I could have my grand child along, and would have protected it with my life, so what is your point?.

          Myrtle, I was trying to explain that those who attend Tea Party rallies are middle class working people who, if they were to bring a small child, would either be carrying that child or be pushing that child in a stroller. The Tea Parties which I attended in DC in '09 I did not observe any children. I did see a lot of middle-aged and older people. My son, who was 30 at the time, also attended.

    Occupy gatherings en masse across the country, for weeks on end, did all of these with little to no intervention from local authorities, costing millions in police protection and clean-up services.
    YET if two or more assemble peacefully, across the street from an abortuary, they are harassed by the police and arrested.

    That sarcastic "wow a whole half hour" when evil walks the streets just looking for an unattended child? How long do you think a child is safe when left alone? Remember this was in public, this tent is not a home. This child was left alone. I can be arrested for smoking in my car with my children with the window down, but this man can leave a child alone in a park and you are not worried ? The child needs a new home – her parents are morons.

      As a long time mother you should be the first to condemn anyone for leaving a baby unattended in a public place, especially at a gathering such as this. During the Fall all we heard about were the drugs and theft and rapes which occurred at these encampments.
