Panetta demands investigation into Marine urination video

Defense Secretary Leon Panetta phoned Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai on Thursday and promised a full investigation of a video that purports to depict four U.S. Marines urinating on the corpses of Taliban fighters — a video both men condemned as deplorable.

In a separate public statement, Panetta said such behavior is “entirely inappropriate for members of the United States military” and that those responsible will be held accountable.

At least two of the four men have been identified as Marines based at Camp Lejeune, N.C., the Associated Press reported, citing a Marine official who spoke on condition of anonymity because there is an active criminal investigation of the incident.

The Marine Corps’ top general condemned the video and called for criminal and internal probes into what has quickly mushroomed into an international incident that threatens to undermine the U.S war effort.

    Since Secretary Panetta is so adamate about an investigation of the Marines who (supposedly) whizzed on peoples bodies who were trying to kill them, he should remember that S— runs "up hill" in the military. I guess, like the Captain of a ship who is responsible for "all the actions" of every sailor under his command, then Mr. Panetta, Secretary of Defense, is, or should be, responsible for all the actions of all military personnel under his jurisdiction. Right? Since Obama is Commander in Chief of the Military and Secretary Panetta, then both of them are equally responsible for the actions of the Marines and therefore should receive punishment for this heinous act. Right? Being retired Navy (Viet Nam Vet) I can only say this whole thing is nothing more than "BS" and once again our leaders (?) show their lack of backbone to tell the liberals and bleeding hearts to take a hike. Walk a mile in the Marines shoes before you condemn them for "pi—–" on the enemy! Personally, I'd give them a medal! Semper FI Marines from the USN!!!

    Did anyone apologize for torturing our Marines then dragging their naked bodies through the streets of Mogadishu until they died? Did anyone apologize for cutting off Daniel Pearl's head and proudly showing the video? Did anyone apologize for murdering civilian contractors working in Iraq, dragging their bodies through the streets and hanging them from a bridge in Fallujah and publishing the pictures? Did anyone ever apologize for the ambush of a convoy of clerks and cooks in which 11 soldiers were killed, including the first female Native American, Private Lori Piestewa?     I have no problem with Marines urinating on the bodies, if they had the chance they would have done much worse to the Marines. I only wish that the Marines would covered those with pig fat first, and the they could also have the opportunity to urinated on the Pink Panther himself, that would Leon Panetta.
