Conservative Base is Growing Tired of GOP Establishment

According to NBC’s Andrea Mitchell, a “top Romney adviser” says that if Mitt loses Florida on Tuesday, “we’re going to have to try to reinvent the smoke-filled room which has been democratized by all these primaries and come up with someone as an alternative to Newt Gingrich.”

Finally — a Republican campaigning against the scourge of democracy! First we’ll go back to the good old days of the “smoke-filled room,” then we’ll bring back Prohibition and get rid of women’s suffrage, too!

Personally I can’t think of a better way to be perceived as an entitled elitist than to have your supporters announce that, unless you win, the voting shouldn’t count. And it’s not just Romney’s team.

Establishment Republicans are in “full panic mode,” as Newt called it yesterday, filling the press with hopeful speculation about a “brokered convention.” That’s when no candidate has won a majority of delegates at the ballot box and the GOP insiders get to pick who they want.

It’s the perfect outcome for folks who prefer a Politburo over a polling place.

But that’s how desperate the establishment is to nuke Newt. The terrified look on the face of GOP pundits as they talk about a possible Newt victory reminds me of the babysitters in the “Friday the 13th” movies waiting for the guy in the hockey mask to kick in the door.

If American and Republican voters want to lose this election to the Obamacommies 2012, keep focusing on President Reagan. As admirable as President Reagan was, he is history and we cannot win an election by focing on the past. Many American voters ages 18-42 are not even aware of who Ronald Reagan was and if we want to win an election 2012, the GOP, the candidates [ultimately nominee], the Tea Party, the conservatives, and the talking heads on radio and TV who nobody should listen to anyway, all should be crafting plans, policy and rhetoric to reach voters age 18-80. This dwelling on the past is a pathetic attempt to identify with a great president…forget about it and identify with our current issues and speak to our time.

    • don

everett that sir is where you are all wrong. if we were still under his idias we sure would not be where we are to day. he was a coseratives conserative. so keep siping the coolaid. the end of america as we love it is near. let please made the right choses. for freedom for gods sake.

    • just sayin

Those ideas WERE the current issues of our time, except Communism has more deeply rooted itself through the Marxists in our government! I would say to tear down this wall would be to smash through the media stonewall!

      • Myrtlelinder

When Lindsey Graham is considered a conservative, that should show anyone where we stand, as a conservative nation, But up beside a majority of the politicians we are enjoying???? today he is conservative.

    • Rachelrao

You are absolutely correct. Forget about Reagan, his era, and talk about today and the State of our country, economy NOW. We already have an arrogant, intellectual leader who can talk but not walk the talk. We need someone who can turn this country around in a bold way. Reduce the size of government, put policies that work, help Americans to get back to the top and LEAD. Gingrich has dragged this into the mud! And I am surprised at Fox's bias – I admire Greta but right now she is reverting to her role as Natalie Holloway's mother's confidant, and Sarah Palin's "friend", and those roles do not suit her intellectual. Sarah Palin who I admired greatly is unfortunately showing very sour grapes along with Huckabee and both are trying to be King makers. Sad state of affairs. I see four more years of BHO if the GOP and Tea Party do not come together and do what is GOOD FOR THE COUNTRY, not themselves.

    • Dalek

I was in High School when Reagan was President. I remember him well enough to know, he was the best we had in a looooooooooong time. We haven't had it that good since either. He could be the nicest guy but when someone messed with the USA, here comes that stick. Just the thought of what was coming was enough for Iran to release our people. Obama couldn't get a giggle out of Iran if he told them a joke.

I have to say tho, the majority of this country gets just what it deserves. We have to remember that Bush's, Clinton, Obama and all the other bad ones were elected. It's either the people that voted them in or the ones that didn't vote for someone else.

It really crawls under my skin when someone says 'me not voting doesn't matter'. Oh yes it does. For every liberal that votes, we need two conservative. The liberals have dead people and even people that don't exist that vote. Give that some thought.

    • Roberta

President Reagan has gone to glory land. We must move forward in this 21st century. It will take work and we must get involved and vote. All good things come to those who love the Lord….even better politices. Faith is the answer and God is still on his Throne.

  • Shawn

Who is this evil 'establishment'. Seriously, this is getting rather ridiculous. I honestly do not have a clue who falls under the 'establishment' banner. Name some names please.

    • just sayin

You should have stopped at "honestly, I do not have a clue"

    • Myrtlelinder

You are right! I'd like to know, too. I live in a great bunch of Republicans. We can't seem to be able to find a true conservative, therefore we are fighting to oust the obomination and are determined to elect the one who has the best chance of ousting him. Let those who think they are experts, fiddle around and try to determine why we vote as we do, and have your fun..

    • jonrod

Bohner to start and then any Republican or Republican advisor who has been in the mix (Long time established) they are terrified at the thought of Newt being elected as President, because he is what they call a Maverick. Example as the Leader of the House he tended to be inflexable to their ridculous demands and demanded some (To them) very possative programs. And he insisted on them being carried out. Off all those ethics violations (I think there were 57) filed by the Democrats I might add. All, I repeat all of them were proven to be unfounded and meaning less. The reason Newt resigned from the House (Not in Discrace as some have alluded) was that he couldn't get his fellow member to go along with his ideas, so he had no alternative. The Republicans as well as the Democrats fear him as President simply because some of his ideas do not fit their idea of the power laden legislature. And they asume that he might do as Obama has been doing. Using the unconstitutional executive privelege to twart their adgenda.

      • francesdrakewrites

Well said sir. I'm so tired of people regurgitating the Lame Stream Media pap without checking the facts. Newt's made a few mistakes, granted. He learned he'd been deceived on the Global Warming Hoax, and was seriously ticked off. He is educable after all. And he may be an SOB, but he's been the Conservatives SOB most of the time. We have to speak loudly and clearly to him, and the other candidates, on the errors of their ways.

        • Richard D Gregory Sr

Some of us are calling on Allen West to run,

          • francesdrakewrites

That would be wonderful, except Rep. West has said that he will not run this time. I can see may other capacities that he could serve in. Chair of the Armed Services Committee would be one… ;-D

    • Richard D Gregory Sr

      Shawn,
The evil "establishment" is/are the "new" republicans.
The people who won last election; the people who are NOT "professional / establishment " politicians.
Have you noticed how the media ignored the Dr Dobson endorsement?
How the media ignores me as I ask for the poll showing the old against the new Congress?
CONgress' pll shows a very poor poll.
NO ONE will do the poll I have called for.
      IO e-mailed every pollster.

    • C. Davis

Shawn, the establishment consists of groups like the Bilderburgers, the trilateral commission, and the Council on Foreign Relations; the American branch of the British roundtable organization set up by Cecil Rhodes.
The head of these groups is Nathaniel Rothschild, who lives in europe and is the preeminent member of the illuminati organization as far as it can be ascertained. In the U.S. the highest ranking minion of this organization is David Rockefeller, as far as can be ascertained. In Europe the highest ranking minions of this worldwide"establishment" are the royal heads of state, and the oligarchical corporatists such as Thyssen of germany and the bankers of Switzerland among many others.
Currently all the candidates running for the office of president are under the control of this "beast" except Ron Paul.
When a high level minion such as George Herbert Walker Bush gives his endorsement to a candidate, you know that candidate is fully controlled by the "establishment" which is comprised, in the world we inhabit, of depraved luciferians.
When a candidate is a card carrying member of the Council on Foreign Relations, you can discount propaganda claiming that that person is somehow an outsider. This is a trick to get the public to support the imposition of a boot upon their necks.
Unless you are willing to bend over for your enslavers your only option is to vote for Ron Paul for president.
If he is not elected president, our fate as a nation will be sealed. We will no longer be The United States of America, we will very soon be known as The North American Zone of the United Nations Protectorate, and the constitutional protections our forebears fought and died to preserve for us will be buried in the scrap heap of history.
Already, the vast majority of our legislators have voted to erase the most basic of our God given rights with their support of the deceptively named USA Patriot act and the NDAA abomination that maketh desolate.
You can find out which legislators comprise the "establishment" by simply accessing the congressional record and seeing if they voted"for" either of these obscenities.
If so, they are representatives of this evil establishment. If not you can assume that they are not, until they prove otherwise.
I hope my small effort has contributed to your edification. Thank You.

I also do not know who "The Establishment" is but I suspect that "Conservative Byte" is part of it. They won't let me comment anymore. I suspect everyone has their bias, but to censor my innocuous comments three in a row; only "TheEstablishment" would be so prejudice.

      Dole, McCain, Romney

You bet the Republican conservatives are tired of the GOP establishment but it is the Democrats who should be concerned. If we have our way it won't be Democrat lite candidate that will be put up to oppose Obama and the Democrats are scared to death about that.

    • Myrtlelinder

You are right we do not have any really conservatives running, neither do we anything that will even come close, to what is violating the seat of the president, at this time

  • Jerry f.

I don't care what the republican elites, the conservative media, the liberal media, the news pundits tell me who I'm going to vote for, that's my GOD given right and I'm not going to let polls influence my vote either,I wish they would shut all the polls down,if people see someone is ahead they will most likely vote for that person.

The establishment are those with seniority in DC. For instance, freshman congressmen have a harder time be allowed to introduce a new bill or to be seated in a board. Why, the senior bullies will not allow them to until they learn to do things their way. This is the insiders (DC)way of disrigarding the votes of the people. They think they rule.

A good and vivid example of the establishment is the movie "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington" with Jimmy Stewart. I know its a hollywood movie but its accurate and from the days when hollywood was still pro American.

      • 2WarAbnVet

The New York-Washington corridor Republican Establishment and Democrats are more akin to allies that adversaries. This current establishment is the ideological descendant of the Rockefeller Republicans. Romney represents these “go-along-get-along” Republicans who’ve put personal power ahead of principles for decades. Romney’s primary selling point is his supposed “electability”. It would not profit the nation to replace Obama with Obomney.

    • Myrtlelinder

Do you know who James Clyburn is? There are so many who walk in the same shoes and has gotten America exactly where, they think, they want it. I am afraid it won't be near as much fun as they think when they have to live by the same Muslim rules as we do.

John Boehner and Mitch McConnell. Don't forget them.

  • just sayin

I was pretty open-minded and was open to anyone but Ron Paul because of his dangerous foreign policies, but after I see how the media is tearing its hair out to swing lies against Gingrich and for Romney, I just made up my mind. Gingrich it is. The more they don't want him, the double more I do want him. If old Republican establishment types speak out about how they couldn't get along with him, that is PERFECT! Throw them out too! They ALL need to go and we need to do it with all guns blazing! Start over with those who have not yet been corrupted by the system and just keep throwing them out as they tip the wrong way!

    • 2WarAbnVet

The liberal/socialist media and the Republican establishment are working assiduously to select Romney as the Republican candidate. Romney is basically "McCain 2012", a weak uninspiring nominee.

It is starting to look like obama may not even get on the ballot in several states that are now starting to demand proof of his eligibility, which he has not been willing to provide. This, from the one who said he would have the most open of all administrations. In either case, just as obamacare is a noose around his neck, so is romneycare a noose around Mitt's neck and that is his waterloo. The rino's don't care who sets in the White House as long as they can keep their seats of power. Therein lies the demise for the regular people, you and I. Newt Gingrich comes with ideas to put the house back in proper order and to re-install in the American dream and that is a big problem for the rino's.

    • Kay

A vote for Newt or Romney is the same as a vote for Obama, because they are ALL NWO, CFR, global elitists. Ron Paul is the only true, patriotic, constitution loving American in the race. I know, I don't agree with his foreign policy and other talking points, but he is not a UN NWO elitist. He is truly our only hope for keeping America free.

    • 2WarAbnVet

      He is not eligible! Minor v. Happersett, 88 U.S. 162 (1875)

Yes they are, afraid he will not only lose to Obama but place control of the House back in Democrat hands along with an expanded Democrat majority in the Senate. I can't blame them though. Newt is going to be a disaster for sure. He is no conservative. Check out this video that nicely sums up his entire political career. • Daniel from TN

The establishment is not just afraid of Newt. It is afraid of anything Conservative in nature. That is why they desparately hate the TEA Party, the threat to their power from within the Republican Party.

    • C. Davis

The only fear they have of Mr. Gingrinch is that, as their minion he will not be able to prevent the man they really fear Ron Paul from winning the presidency, by beating their other minion, Barak Obama in the election. They fear Mr. Paul because he is not under their control but is dedicated to the restoration of the republic for, by, and of the people of the United States of America.

    • Pete

I think you are right, along with others. Newt said he repented, recanted of his past, so God forgiven, lets let it go. Now it is between him and the Lord God if not done in truth. I am taking him at his word. Long as stays away from Globalist ideas, and Gores ideas. I was – Illegal is illegal, but we may have to look at the long timers… etc. If have good morals (can use a lot of that), no jail records, no druggies, learned English, working and paying taxes. We have soldiers returning who will need jobs and they have to come first. Hate no one, love everyone, but not the sin. Love and Charity is God's rule. Not forced by Gov't. From the heart of individuals. America has had a big heart till their money has been taken away. Keep trusting the Creator of all things…He knows start to finish.

    Jim De Mint for President>

Google De Mint and Ron Paul to see what he thinks of Dr. Paul.

    • Riverdweller

DeMint is a wimp. He should have filibustered both Sotomayor (sp) and Kagan. I called and e-mailed. Not even a response.

  • Dingbat36

The Establishment Republicans, Shawn just to enlighten you, are the entrenched MODERATES at the top of the Party. Who do you think REALLY shot down Herman Cain? I frankly don't care if everyone THINKS that was a Democrat hatchet job, but I really think the "credit" goes to the RINOS!

    • dolores tamoria

I've thought this all along. Thanks for enunciating it in print.

    • Daniel from TN

Cain was shot down because his presence, if the Republican nominee, would split the Black vote. There is no way the Liberals were going to allow that to happen. Cain also stands for Conservative principles ( anti status-quo) which is why the Republicans did nothing to defend Cain against the accusations.

    • C. Davis

We as the unwashed can only speculate about the motivations of those pulling the levers. My own suspicion is that Mr. Cain was causing the spotlight to swing perilously close to the Pillsbury family with its skull and bones connections. That coupled with his dishonesty about his stereotypical philandering led, I believe, to the word coming down from on high that he was to retire from that spotlight so that the Pillsbury connection could once again recede into the shadows of obscurity.

      • Riverdweller

I never did believe those women. Where are they now that he has suspended his campaign?
Back into the low-life holes they crawled out of.

  • Patrioticnut

Dingbat, I think you hit that one just right. It was, in my opinion, the establishment rinos that got to Cain. He was saying to much that would have gotten them out of power, as in the fact that the constitution allows us, the citizens, to reform or replace the federal government. The newly passed NDAA takes care of that little problem though doesn't it???

    • Riverdweller

NO, the NDAA does not over-ride our Constitution. We can still reform or replace the government, even if we have to do it by force if/when the ballot box fails..

      • Patrioticnut

River, you are right that it doesn't over-ride our constitution but can you not see that it will allow the federal government to classify anyone a terrorist for doing anything against our government and could be used against anyone willing to stand up for our right to reform or replace. Do you think they would not use that power to prevent their ouster? What the NDAA does to facilitate that is make it a lawful order to a military member to detain an American citizen once they are classified a domestic terrorist. Before this it would have been an unlawful order and therefore could have and should have been refused by any member of the military, now it would be lawful and refusal would result in the members prosecution.

  • Nevadastu

Unless, and until the Washington Entrenched Establishment Elites (WEEE) are defeated, the cesspool that is Washington DC will never change. They are pulling out all of the stops in order to destroy Newt because he is the biggest threat to their status quo. Why else would his Speakership end in phony ethics charges and ultimately his unforced resignation at the hands of his own party after 4 years of Conservative successes?

    • Keith

You need to go back and review your history. The phony ethics charges were launched by the Democrats, not Republicans. Newt resigned after the worst mid-term elections for a majority party in 64 years. His resignation had nothing to do with the ethics charges. However, Newt is no conservative eithe. Check out this video. It clearly demonstrates why. When the s reen comes up, scroll down and click the play button in the lower left corner. The video will then begin to play.

      http://vimeo.com/m/6445068

      • Nevadastu

I know that the ethics charges were brought by the Dems. I should have been clear on that point. Thanks for bringing it to my attention, and for the link.

  • Frank

When I hear "GOP establishment" I think of career politicians that want more big government & more political power. They are really not that much different from the big government politicians in the Democratic Party, except perhaps on some social issues. the main problem: big government, remains the same for both the establishment left & right. We need to change our thinking to small (Constitutional) government vs big (Unconstitutional) government. Right now, the big (Unconstitutional) government politicians are still running the GOP. Reagan basically tried to oppose them, but was imperfect in doing so. Nevertheless, he was on the right track. Someone else needs to take up the small government torch passed on by Reagan. Some say Newt, I'd say Paul. It would definitely NOT be Romney.

  • [email protected]

All the pundits and news organizations who think they should be the ones to influence just who our nominee should be, ought to be muzzled so their biased opinions don't interfere with the people's right to choose. I believe the American people , have the ability to decide which candidate can best provide the necessary decisions to straighten out the current mess our country is in. As far as the establishment republicans are concerned, their influence should not be taken without the knowledge that they have their own agenda. Don't be swayed by them because we have seen what damage they are doing to some of the candidates with some doubtful criticisms. Polls should be outlawed too, because they may or may not be relaying the biases of those taking the polls.

Let's form a new and improved Republican party and leave these smug Easterners in the dust. We don't need them! And their states vote Democrat anyway!

  • Keith

Sadly, the majority of the electorate still is not able to handle the truth. The trouble is, we have a couple of major problems that interact to cause our bad economy and lack of jobs. Unfortunately, no one wants to hear these truths from the one politician who is talking about them and instead place blind faith in demonstrably failed politicians? That is the sad state of affairs we find our country in today. Unless and until these few major problems are remedied permanently, nothing else we do is going to make much of a difference.

    • C.Davis

Did you know that if you guess his name he has to spin straw into gold for you?

  • Keith

Dolores: The first thing you need to do is google George Washington's Farewell Address and read it. In that address he discusses treating all countties equally without favorites. He also discusses why we should do that. Ron Paul's foreign policy stands firmly on those words. Or are you going to say Washington was wrong too?

    • C. Davis

Keith, your sentiments are laudible, however we must remember that the vast number of Americans have been ceaselessly victimized by their pundits hammering these talking points at them over the public airwaves, The broadcasting technology they have set up has as one of its aims the converting of sensible people into human tape recorders who will automatically parrot a recorded phrase or word whenever a code word (Ron Paul, for example) is introduced to their consciousness. They are little more than Pavlov's dogs. They can't seem to connest the military adventurism with the explosion of debt and the erosion of our rights that it entails once they have been entrained to drool on command. Of course we can't just let them shuffle off, lemming-like into perdition if we hope not to be dragged along, but we are at a distinct disadvantage as long as the rulers can keep Dr. Paul blacked out of the conversation.

    • docalpha

They both have a great idea. The best. We just can't cold turkey return to G. Washington's idea; but, it is the best goal. It took a long time getting here, it will take a while to come about. If Paul was less dogmatic about an abrupt attempt at turning…?

  • John

In the up coming election we need to vote most of the Democrats in both houses of Congress, all of the Old Guard Republican and the worse president that we have had in the history of oue Country out of office. We are presently more than well on our way to becoming the next Zimbabwe and all of those in Washington, DC are responsible for our decline.

  • Jack Reacher

I read a "dig" on Greta Van Sustren of Fox News and did not wish to reply to that person since it would only be seen by those that looked at the op's post.

Lay off Greta! She is the ONLY one at FOX News that is asking the tough questions. Not O'Reilly or Hannity. Both are in the same barrel but for different reasons. O'Reilly wants to maintain this "air" of superiority by appearing "neutral". Hannity is slanted towards Newt since they are old buddies from before. But leave Greta alone and thank God she's there! I admire her gumption to get right in the face of politicians and call their hand when they try to spin an answer out of their back pocket. Even that wimp, Lindsay Graham-nesty, doesn't try to pull any fast ones on Greta.

I agree with the previous comment, Greta Van Sustren at Fox is pretty straight forward and does ask some pretty direct questions. O'Reilly on the other hand holds his finger up in the air to see whatever way the wind is blowing. He calls his show the "No Spin Zone" but for a long time now it has really be the Total Spin Zone. I think that Hannity is still one of the better people ar Fox, and Fox is the best news network on television. None of the American new media including Fox ever seem to be able to tell the complete story the way it actually is.

Anybody that has traveled a lot or has been in any way involved in any story that you see on TV in a new report or say on 50 minutes can only wonder if what they actually was in or was involved in in person was actually the same even or situation.

Not all conservative republicans are mad at Romney. I think he is the only one who can get the Independent and democrat votes needed to win. We are a definite minority party and cannot win on our own . We must have a candidate who can get the other voters. As much as I liked Goldwater he had absolutley no chance to win. The same could be said for anyone who cannot get the Dem and Ind vote. i guarantee Gingrich, no matter how much you like him will get any of their votes/ Nominate him at your own peril

Romney is a phony whimp. He wants to be President so bad he will say whatever he has to to appease the audience.
Newt isn't my first choice but he is better than Romney.
