Controversial Artist Depicts Obama Trampling The Constitution

In front of the White House a man is sitting on a park bench in the throes of depression. He is surrounded by all 44 presidents. In the forefront, purposefully ignoring the depressed man is President Obama, whose right foot is stepping on the Constitution. James Madison is next to Obama, pleading with him to stop.

This tableau is called “The Forgotten Man”, a painting by Jon McNaughton, an artist who is known for his politically-charged work.

The painting, which uses objects such as discarded dollar bills as symbols and scraps of paper with individual constitutional amendments scrawled onto them, has been making the rounds across the Internet.

The painting was initially released in 2010 and has resurfaced, causing a stir when it appeared for a caption contest on MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow’s blog.

The responses have ranged from sarcastic — “We’ll trade you this peasant for that constitution. We’ll even throw in the bench.” – to Photoshop works of art.

    The painting is great, it's beautiful. The only criticism I have of it is that he really screwed up their height. Obama is actually short, as were quite a few others who Lincoln, Clinton, and Washington would stand head and shoulders above, the perspective is a little off, but this painting should be hanging in the White House.

    After all that has taken place these past three years, it is unbelievably sad that there are SO MANY out there who STILL believe in this ineligable and most unworthy man called ….Obama….or is it Larry….or ….wait a minute….what IS his name????? Reminds me of the Pied Piper with all the un-suspecting children dancing along behind him as he plays on his flute. These people are being led to the slaughter by this man of many names and they just don't seem to care. When so many more are without jobs, just who do they think is going to be able to pay for their free handouts anymore so THEY don't have to work? This is a very sly, sneaky, down-right dirty way to create hatred among those who don't take the time to search out the truth….politically speaking. God help us!!!

    This painting almost made me cry. It is so close to the truth. What would our Founding Fathers think

    This is the first time I have seen this painting and it almost made me cry. It is shocking to see the truth of our situation portrayed in this way. What would our Founding Fathers think? But Obama is where he is because a lot of stupid people, who don't pay attention and who vote based on clever slogans(like Hope and Change), voted for him. We have ourselves and our friends and neighbors to blame. Our children do not study American history, the Declaration and the Constitution in our schools. They don't understand the importance of our history and our founding documents. And we let it happen.

    WHEN THE CONSTITUTION AND THE WORD OF GOD ARE ALLOWED TO BE IN THE FOREFRONT, IN OUR AMERICAN WAY OF LIFE, WE WILL BENFIT FROM IT. WHEN A SELF GOVERNING CHRISTIAN IS FOLLOWING THE WORD OF GOD, THEN THE CONSTITUTION'S PURPOSE WILL WORK. GOD'S PLAN FOR AMERICA ,IS TO HAVE A NATION LIKE ISRAEL FROM THE OLD TESTAMENT. THIS IS WHY AMERICA WAS FOUNDED IN THE WAY IT WAS BACK THEN. WHEN YOU HAVE BIBLE NOT EVEN ALLOWED IN OUR SCHOOLS, THEN EVIL WILL DO IT'S WORK OF EVIL TO GAIN FULL CONTROL OVER AMERICA AS WE HAVE IT NOW. SO THIS IS WHY OBAMA HAS TRAMPLED DOWN OUR CONSTITUTION, AS HIS OWN TOILET PAPER OF THE POLITICAL KIND. WE AS AMERICANS HAVE SOME FORM OF THE WORD OF GOD IN OUR HEARTS, BECAUSE OF WHAT WE HAVE LEARNED IN OUR SCHOOLS AND OUR CHURCHES.

    The post at the lasvegas.cbslocal.com correctly states that the picture depicts all 43 Presidents…, but this post editted it in error to read "all 44 Presidents"! Yes it is true that Obummer is the 44th, but he is physically only the 43rd as Grover Cleveland was our 22nd President, defeated by Harrison, the 23rd President, then ran again and defeated Harrison to become our 24th President. Hence, 43 = 44!
