Jobs Report Lie: 1.2 Million Fall Out of Labor Work Force

CNBC’s Rick Santelli: You know what I said at 8:30 Eastern? We want a million jobs an hour. That’s what we want. What we got looked like a good report. I said, ‘Let’s get the calculator out,’ and I did. And so did a boatload of my sources and big blogs that many people read like Zero Hedge. The labor force participation rate, if you look at non-seasonally adjusted, a fresh low going back to April of ’83. If you look at seasonally adjusted, a fresh low participation rate going back to December of ’81. What does that mean in English? Shrinkage. Shrinkage. 1.2 million people are now not considered unemployed anymore. They just have left the system. So, we need to concentrate on the internals, and eventually we want to watch the fixed income market to see if some of this sets in as people do their ciphering.

Listen, if I talk about a stock that had a great report, but I don’t point out the fact that there was a one-time tax credit that did it, am I doing my viewers a service or a disservice? Listen, when you look at the body counts on the establishment survey, we created jobs. That’s a good thing. There’s my perk. But I’m sorry, if you look at the other side, you look at the household survey, yes, we had this big seasonal adjustment. You can go to the BLS, you can see their economic release, you can see their situation summary. And we can see that ‘not in labor force’ moved from about 86.6 million to 87.8. There’s your 1.2 million. And we do see the asterisk, there’s been an adjustment on population. That’s the way it goes. We make an adjustment. The last 12 months needed to be adjusted. It is what it is.

Pelosi must taste like pancake batter.

  • MartinRidens

It must suck to become a bad statistic. It must suck even worse to be told you're actually a good statistic in the process. Government lies. Both sides. We need less of it.

    • David

Actually we need every member of Congress to be men and women of integrity that fear and know what God says. Enough of cow-towing to man and his opinions. George Washington and the boys drew up a successful plan and government and we can’t even have brains to figure out how to keep a liar and deceiver out of the White House. A person with the least amount of integrity fool a nation. Ironic! Face it all who voted this guy in…YOU F_ _ _ED UP!

      • diana

agree with you only trouble is that there are so many idiots out there and these coll. students have no brain to think for their selfs believe everything this evil bas— says parents did not do well to teach them research before voteing,

  • Ilene

    Lies and more lies.

  • No go

Ha ha ha. Y guys can't stand it that economy is getting better and Mittens will be left without a rebel call. People listen to mainstream media (which can't be stopped) and believe it. Need a new slogan. Steady rise in jobs and economy = 4 more years of that dreaded Keyan socialist commie working daily with the pretty granny who drives y guys crazy. Good luck. Keep up the great name calling. So effective

Obama may get re-elected but the Dems will not get the House back. We will have four years of nothing substantial as the senate will continue to be stuck in the past. Sen Reid will blow his cork, have a stroke, or whatever other issue he cares to expose.

    • maxmillun

Boy has Liberalism screwed up your mind! You can not recognize real facts! I bet that you believe that neither Obama or Pelosi would never lie just to get re-elected! Well… here is one very important fact… Joe Wilson was absolutely correct!

    • Robert

No go, you need to get serious. You only see what you want to see but believe me, the economy is not getting better. It is the bean counters who are deceiving you to think the economy is getting better. As the election gets nearer, you will see more false hoods put out by this lying government. Obama will promise everyone the moon, but will not be able to deliver. The ignorant people (and there are many of these) will believe every lie they are told because they are still drinking the kool aid. Obama says to every bit of bad news, "it is George Bush's fault", but we know better. He is in over his head and will not admit it. Educate yourself by viewing something besides the government run media. Capitalism has many ups and downs, but the present down period we are in would have started going up if Obama had not interfered with market forces. Very soon he is going to run out of "other people's money" and then he will really be in trouble.

    • jdangiel

You're going to have one heck of a headache when the koolaid wears off.

  • Walter

Obama is all about lies. When did we get any statement of facts that might have been close to the truth. This guy is so bad with his facts and his perdicton even sation has trouble covering for him…………………. http://visiontoamerica.org/7785/gallup-state-numb… (seven lies in one minute ..

  • Harold Clark

If thje truth bit Obamay and his lieing commies on the nose, they would not recognize it.

  • dolores tamoria

These figures are scewed to show what the government wants them to show. It does not show all those who are no longer able to draw unemployment and all those who held temporary seasonal jobs over the Holidays. Don't believe this crap!

  • cheryl jessup

Anyone who believes the numbers that come out of the WH is a fool.

  • Randy131

The 1.2 million dropped from the labor work force is an underestimate of the true number, for the labor work force number that Obama uses for his unemployment figures, are lower than what they were in 2007. With the increase in our population, and the people entering the labor work force each month, along with all the jobs being usurped from American citizens by illegal immigrants, is anyone not informed enough to know that a reduction in the labor force from 5 years ago is impossible. And why do I also count those illegal immigrant workers, because Obama and the Democrats make sure they're on the rolls of all our entitlement programs, deserving or not. The real unemployment percentage, if counted like it was during the 'Great Depression', is some where in the twenty percentile bracket. If not for unemployment compensation (with Obama's never ending extensions), food stamps, welfare programs, and all the other entitlemnet benefits, the people of this country would be hurting significantly worse than back in the 'Great Depression, but all this is bankrupting the country, and soon the dollar will collapse because of the debt, and everyone will be out of work, with a currency that can buy nothing.

we have 380,000-420,000 NEW layoffs each week for 175 straight weeks. Out of a work force of 170 mil (300 mil pop), that's 68 mil layoffs or a 45% unemployment rate. NOT 8.3%! Since 2000 42,000 co's that employ 500 or more have left. CFR knewtiescum got us NAFTA and GATT(china). He cost us millions of jobs. STILL, I see no one offering any defense to this treason by a so-called "conservative".

  • J J

I have never believed the government produced employment numbers – I know they are skewed. Why wouldn't a person who is unemployed to the point of giving up count in the "official" unemployment number??? Because that might make the numbers look bad – sorry, reality is reality – deal with it, no, fix it!!!!

  • Patricia Leath

Are the American people expected to accept this crass subterfuge by the Bureau of Labor Statistics? On top of this insult, the liberal media goons are praising this "great news" knowingly lying to the American people. We must demand the truth. Data is specifically being manipulated for Obama and his thugs by the BLS. Playing with numbers to garner votes is totally unacceptable. People are desperate, scared, despondent and they have stopped looking for jobs. Don't these poor people count in the calculations by the BLS or are they simply an inconvenience? The BLS must be held accountable for their data and their light weight numbers cruncher's need to be reprimanded or fired. This is irresponsible and detrimental to the well being of our Nation. I love America. I am however convinced that we are in the process of imploding and all of these people are criminals.

  • IDart

Why do I see these complaints about NAFTA and GATT all the time. A company is in business to make a profit. If it can't make it in the US but still wants to operate, then they move overseas. The other option is to just go out of business. Why don't I ever see any complaints about the thousands of businesses that are forced overseas by the UNIONS. Higher pay and great retirement plans are only possible if the company is makeing a PROFIT.

  • maxmillun

Remember, even if the 8.3% were true (which it is NOT)…. Obama said the if he got the stimulus unemployment would never reach 8%. So what is all of this cheering by the left that it is 8.3%

  • Dr. Real

Why doesn't one of the GOP candidates use the fuzzy numbers to point out the real truth? Maybe Americans would appreciate an honest explanation…a lot better tactic than the current negative crap.

  • guest on this planet

Did they all get government jobs or pensions?

  • MrUglyAmerican

Barack "the man who would be king" Obama and his minions in the media will skew statistics, falsify data, manipulate polls and flat out lie to make it appear America, after three long years of demise, is somehow on the upswing in order to garner votes for his re-election bid. Don't believe a word of it and vote this charlatan out of office!

  • Pegi

The job figures are as skewed as the inflation figures. Nothing that actually counts is included in the calculation. The whole thing is a farce. MrUglyAmerican has it 100% right.

  • carguy427

I would NOT believe ANY government statistic that says the economy or employment is getting better between now and the election. All the beareaucrats in the gummint are pulling for Obama and the "Fourth Estate" is in the bag for him. Of course there are just less people looking for work and giving up. If we compare not to the Great Depression the unemployment is just as bad or worse now. Then, companies didn't have retirement funds so they just kicked workers out the door after 25+ years, now they are retired. There was no unemployment compensation. No rubber rooms. We probably have higher REAL unemployment now than they did then!

  • carguy427

My the way, have ANY news organizations made public that Sheriff Joe A. in AZ is actually investigating O's birth legality? No of course not. Does anyone think that the heat the Justice Department (remember "Fast and Furious"?) is putting on his department suddenly for supposedly racial profiling is just out of the blue? Get serious. They want him to STOP investigating O's birth right.

Enter text rightI to believe that what reorts we are getting from the goverment on jobs is hogwash. As always there are some jobs out there but most of them take alot of training or just don't pay enough to live on. Unions have made it a mess and all people don't care for them as they may get you a raise now and then, where the leaders get fat off you.

If 0′bama’s government propaganda machine told it’s liberal, brain dead base that it was midnight at noon, they would believe it, saying ‘man, ain’t the moon bright tonight?’
