Ron Paul: ‘We don’t need more government’

Hoping to ride the shoulders of passionate Minnesota fans Tuesday, Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul packed events in the state Saturday, speaking of liberty over government and rights over entitlement.

“There is reason to be optimistic that now the people are thinking correctly….We don’t need more government,” Paul told a standing room only crowd in a Rochester high school Saturday.

Paul may have some reason to find optimism in Minnesota. His campaign has been organizing for the caucuses for months and has a structure to, as one supporter said, “storm the caucuses.”

With a still-unsettled electorate, Minnesota’s Tuesday straw poll is gaining attention from the remaining Republican candidates as they look for momentum to fight on. Paul, Romney and Santorum supporters are now streaming television ads in Minnesota and they and Newt Gingrich fans are now dialing for votes among Republican activists.

Paul’s on the ground campaigning over Saturday and Monday will be matched by Rick Santorum and Mitt Romney, who are also pitching Minnesotans for votes during their visits. Newt Gingrich has the most recently organized campaign here but his fans are still hoping the former U.S. House Speaker will stop by the next 48 hours.

On some Issues I agree with Paul, but media gives Him bad press & image as "wacky".
I love his audit the Fed etc issues.
On this ALL candidates should say YES 2.

We are talking to an Obamaite, there is no reasoning with any of them. Look what they have done in the last three years and blamed it all on Bush and Reagan!!!!!!!!!!

  • Not Impressed

This is the message Ron Paul needs to repeat and repeat constantly. This alone will get him elected.

  • RonIsDeceived

Why did Ron Paul NOT have the guts to tell the moochers in his district, "You don't need more EARMARKS in the budget bills I vote against!"

    • Ann Wilson Kingsley

@RonIsDeceived: Because the moocher had a right to ask for Earmarks, just like you have a right to complain. Freedom anyone? That is Ron Paul who embraces the philosophy of Our Founding Fathers – Libertarianism. Join us in restoring America. Ron Paul for 2012.

  • RonIsDeceived

To the people who are crowing about Democrats appearing to abandon Obama for Ron Paul: Those Demo-rats are only trying to stiff the GOP with a Ron Paul nomination. Those Demo-rats will go right back and vote for Obama in the general election!

    • Ann Wilson Kingsley

@RonIsDeceived: The Democrats who support Ron Paul are the "Bush Haters", not just the Vietnam era anti-war protestors, age 20-80s. No one is bent on stiffing the GOP, but the GOP itself. Ron Paul polls too well as a Far-Right Libertarian thinking candidate Libertarianism is the philosophy of Our Founding Fathers, and it is gaining more and more popular support – so much so that the Tea Party has a run for its money each time it endorses a candidate other than Ron Paul. With Tea Party support, Ron Paul would have already won some primaries. As it is, Ron Paul gets the break-away Tea Party support, while the sheeple vote according to Tea Party endorsements. The Tea Party is endorsing RINO Progressives for president.

I like this post very much. Your argument is obviously very profound in its consequences, and therefore I am interested to see how it performs under test from greater experts than I.

Conservatives and "tea party" people have been screaming for years that they want a candidate who will cut spending. They want a candidate who will cut taxes and regulations. They want a candidate who will balance the budget. They want a candidate who will shrink the size of government. They want a candidate who will restore the rule of law. They want a candidate who respects the Constitution.

Well guess what? You've got a candidate who will do all those things. And what do you do? Deride and berate him. Call him a lunatic. Call him "unelectable" and "fringe."

Now you have changed the definitions of the words. Conservative now means "perpetual war and fear, until our grandchildren are in chains and bankrupt." We true patriots, who heard Ron Paul's message and still believe in the Founders' vision of America, want no part of what you are calling "conservative." Good luck ever getting elected again without us.
